About

joulemath is a small set of calculators about one question: what is a kilowatt-hour worth when you turn it into compute? Right now that means Bitcoin mining and renting GPUs to AI workloads.

Rules we stick to: every number on the site is either your input, live from a public API, or linked to where it came from. If we can't source something, we leave it blank and say so.

Live data comes from the free mempool.space API (difficulty, block rewards, BTC price) with CoinGecko as a price fallback. It all runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Some links on joulemath are affiliate or referral links, for example to Vast.ai. If you sign up through them, joulemath may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked, and they never change the numbers the calculators show.
